Frederici Clavichord Frederici Clavichord

This clavichord is one I made for myself in 2000. Nothing was spared to make the instrument as beautiful to look at as it is to hear and play. The sound is rich, deep, firm, sweet, flexible, and fun to make, once you learn exactly how to play it. It is based on the Leipzig instrument from 1765 (Nr. 30 in the Henkel catalogue). The inside rim of the instrument is veneered in a South American type rosewood. The natural keys are covered in ebony, the sharps are pearwood topped with bone and inked, and the fronts are made of arcaded boxwood. The rosette is of parchment. And the soundboard is decorated with flowers.

Because I have found clavichords to be too labour intensive, that is to make them of such a quality that they are worth playing, I doubt I will ever make another one...my clavichords are too expensive for most players. Maybe not. Who knows?

for the Price of this instrument, please inquire.
